goodbye SJCC! hello SJSU!
EDIT. 10pm and i'm allllll done :)
finals in level of difficulty:
1. Badminton
Sooooooooooooooooooo fun! The best final ever, lol. Just play in the singles tournament. Trevor and I made a deal - he'd give me one point in the semifinals match, and I'd give him a grip. Then he proceeded to let me win - hitting all the ones that I hit out--and pretending he couldn't get my smashes. sucker. THEN in the final match, he gave the game to me!!! What the heck, man! lol, he didn't even get his grip--we both totally forgot bc we finished 4 minutes before his class and his final. what a sucker. i'm going to challenge him for real at Smash City later.
2. Excel
Easiest final ever. As said before, this one is open book, open notes, open computer, open Internet, open everything. Easy. Thank GOD i'm done with this class. so boring and tedious. Why did I even take this class
3. English
Not bad-- had to write a timed essay on a film that I watched the night before. hehehehehe. My essay was kind of bland, but I think I got the point across. Then we had a discussion on the film. The professor for this class is really nice and cool.
4. Stats
As aforementioned...I studied my butt off for this final. I seriously thought it was going to be way harder, the way the professor kept going on about how proud he was of us for getting this far. I got really freaked out and crammed. And then there was the 2nd part of the test in which we could split up amongst ourselves and discuss the answers to that part. geez. Well... I totally didn't notice that I was the last one to finish the test. LOL. I was so absorbed in writing out my responses and checking my answers that when there was 5 more mins left in the class, the professor cleared his throat and said, "Those of you who aren't done yet, please wrap up your test because there's another class right after ours...JESSICA." I guess I spent too much time on the looooooooooooong extra credit problem....hehehehehehe.
5. Spanish
I like spanish!!!!!! It's a lot easier to understand what people are saying if they're speaking in Spanish rather than French. Spanish is said really clearly and distinctively, while French is all kinda blurred together. And it's cool to hear people talking in Spanish all around you...and actually UNDERSTANDING some of their convos. You never really hear any French speakers here.
Anyway... I did alright until the preterite part!! I was supposed to write comi' because I was trying to say "I ate" in the past tense, but I wrote come' instead. argh. Well, I think I might want to continue to Spanish 1b...when I have time.
6. Karate
UGH KARATE. I watched the video that I made of Moses doing the seisan thingie....like 50x until I got it down. Surprisingly, I did alright. When I got back to everyone else after doing the seisan thing, I found out that james^2 and moses had made a bet on whether I would pass or not. lol...stupid suckers. As a result of winning the bet, I was rewarded with a slave and a human punching/kicking bag. Then we were tested on the kata or whatever it is, and I totally bombed that one... sensei told me to sit down after I attempted a sad version of it. LOL. Then we got tested on front kicks, side kicks, roundhouse kicks, etc.... danielle and I had to watch the TA give us a quick review.
There's this girl in the class who never participates in anything and always makes up excuses not to practice with us, so she was panicking like mad and pestering the TA to show her how to do all the steps. Moses tried to show her, but she was like "No, I want that short girl [the TA] to show me." omg. we all just kind of rolled our eyes...
And then to wrap everything up, the girls were tested on the self-defense moves. We were all kind of watching and hoping that tommy (the "rapist") would get kicked in the nuts--as moses assured us, it's a tradition every semester--but he never did. he got off lucky this semester. lol. when it was my turn, he grabbed my ponytail!!!!! so i did the...whatever that kick is called. It's a kick where you act like a bull and kick backward as hard as you can. Don't remember what that one's called. then apparently I had way too much adrenaline running through me and I almost broke the guy's arm when I performed another self-defense move...sensei's eyes bulged and he was like "no no no, don't break his arm!!" heehee. oops.
Okay well...I really hope I don't get a C or something in karate. THAT would really suck.
it's been great at sjcc ;D I'm definitely gonna miss the people in badminton and karate and a few people in english. I never talk to anyone in math or spanish...heh. one month of vacation, and then off to sjsu. what will it be like there?

dropped??
I'VE BEEN DROPPED FROM MICROSOFT WORD!!!
I don't know whether to be relieved or annoyed.
Apparently they dropped me Nov. 21..but I'd turned in my work on the first Word chapter on like, Nov. 22?
ARGH!
I'm thinking they dropped me because I hadn't turned in a scrap of work for this class before Nov. 22. I had no idea this was going to happen! This is nowhere on the course syllabus. The instructor, Sharon Youngblood, hadn't warned me about this. I remember telling her near the end of October that the bookstore still didn't have my Microsoft Word lvl2 textbook. After sending an e-mail to someone who might have a handle on the book situation, she assured me that the book would be coming in soon (it had been placed on back order). I received my textbook in the 1st-2nd week of November.
Hmmm. I actually have mixed feelings on being dropped. I mean, I've been slightly stressing out trying to figure out how to cram eight Microsoft Word chapters into three weeks. I even completed two Excel chapters in one week (the instructors allot us 2 weeks to finish a chapter), anticipating that I would have to really rush through Microsoft Word in December. I finished the reeeaaallly long Chapter 1 too. I want to get my expert's certifications in both Excel and Word. lol.
But I'm dropped...so that means I don't have to rush like crazy and I can concentrate on my other classes. I can study more thoroughly for the Excel midterms/final (I'm taking them all at once, heheheheh). I don't have to keep going back to the computer lab. I don't have to come home at 9-10 on comp-lab nights. Mmmm, sounds good.
But...I'm dropped! :(
The Word instructor isn't here today, so maybe I'll talk to her tomorrow about it.
Hmm....so my English prof e-mailed me again about my enrollment status in English. Apparently I'm still not in the class officially...
Hi Jessica,
I just checked the official roster on MyWeb again and find that A&R still has not officially enrolled you, despite Marty's email.
I think you need to follow up with the counselor who cleared you for 1C prereqs and ask him to notify A&R of his approval, so that you can enroll and receive credit for this class. Let me know if you run into any difficulties.
best,
Andrea Wang
Instructor, Language Arts Division/English

Please add Jessica Y. Suen (SID 0648713) to English 1C-105 (#46007), "Critical Thinking/Composition." Thanks.

Darnnnnnnnn. Such bad luck with enrollment in classes. -_-

anyway.
I had packed my bags beautifully last night, but I got to the locker room 5 mins before badminton and i'd forgotten to bring along my P.E. shorts!! ahh! Sucks. I had my badmin shoes, my laundered socks, my t-shirt, my new grip, racket, water, everything... but no shorts. And of course I can't play in my skirt. So I decided to skive off badminton and do homework in the library :( :( So bad. Oh well. A trip to Smash City will make up for 2 tardies/absences! The thing is, I think I need to make up like 4, because I keep running late for badminton. heheheh. I need to hit up Smash City.
At 12:30, I headed to English and we listened to some presentations. I got my in-class essay back...
WOOTWOOT!
Off to do hw.

one-liners
2. Volunteering, working, running, socializing, all while studying super hard for grad school - nice, keep it up!
3. Can't wait for you to come back - it's not the same without you!
4. This won't last if we have zero to bare-minimum communication and contact.
5. What kind of friend are you if you keep being cheap/defensive/untrustworthy and spouting lies/excuses?
6. In the past, our friendship was never stable, but now it's looking up; I'm looking forward to it.
7. You're enjoying your life right now, but I'm worried about you--please don't be so reckless or you will really regret it in the future.

A great day!
I woke up at 8, rushed, and got to the bus stop at 8:35 while the bus idled there at the stop. I ran onto the bus and the familiar bus driver was like "Don't worry, you still have some time" with a nice grin. Cool. So I sat down and watched movies/mv's on my ipod the whole trip, which was surprisingly fast. I looked up and the bus was already like 5 minutes away.
Badminton was awesooome. I got there right on time and with some time to spare. Unfortunately I had just missed witnessing Trevor trip over his own feet as he did footwork. sucks. Oh well. Then we played for like practically the whole time, and won all our games :) I had no idea why I couldn't smash at all. Like, I would smash, and Carl + his partner would drive my smash back at us. Ugh. And then after our games, Trevor and I "practiced" smashing... or rather he goaded me so I could work up some anger into a nice smash that would actually get past him. He kept returning my smashes with his racket between his legs. However, with one minute left of class, I got really frustrated, screamed, and smashed with everything I had. He couldn't return it :D bwahahaha.
And then after badmin, I went to the library to meet up with my group members for the English presentation. We got a key for a study room, and went up to the third floor. We discussed coordinating the presentation until 12:30, when we went to English. The first group that presented gave us candy for answering the questions :D My chocolate fix right there. Then we went up. It was kind of daunting because the first group that had went was pretty good, so we were all a little nervous. I presented my fallacy first, then Jenny, then Tipi. I guess our presentation was good; people actually answered our questions and laughed at our Youtube clips. Cool.
But the best part! We got back our take-home essays for A Separate Peace, and I actually got....
an A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
an A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YEAH!!!!! So cool. Pathetic really, I haven't gotten an A on an real English essay/paper ever since junior year. My professor asked me if she could make copies of my essay to show the class an example (with my name blacked out, of course). That made me pretty happy. I haven't felt smart since 8th grade. So sad, I know. At last, a decent essay!
Compare. Ugh, horrible.
At 4, I went running around the track and up/down the bleachers. Hace frio, but it was alright.
It was pretty sad; I died on the first lap. I stood there dying by the fence until I got mad at myself and ran around and around and around and up/down the bleachers. Total track time: less than 45 mins. I'm sadly out of shape.
All nasty and sweaty:
The prettiest time of the day.
Geezus. In my experience, college guys are so much more forward with girls than high-school guys. Seriously. In high school, I found that most guys are really subtle and won't tell girls straight-out that they like them, unless pressured by friends or after a period of time. In college, most guys flirt easily and obviously--sometimes as soon as a girl walks past them. It's kind of funny/annoying because it's so completely shallow. I mean, it's so hard to find out if someone you meet genuinely wants to be your friend, if they are obviously flirting. I guess that's why I support the idea that a good relationship begins with a good strong base of friendship. Relationships that start right off the bat --like within a week/month of meeting the person-- generally don't make it very far.
I wish this great day would never end. Alas, it seems to be coming to a close; i've got a ton of math hw to do!!
ETA: My mom went to Costco and bought SO many goodies! Two huge boxes of Cup Noodles, a huge box of fruit snacks, and cereal! yumyumyum

choices
Anyway, on the way back from SC, I was thinking about what I should major/minor in! I mean, of course I'm going to major in graphic design, but then what about double majoring? Or double minoring? I'd love to work for a magazine!! Either writing or designing is fine. But then I'd also love to do work for a design firm. Or work in the sociology field. Or as a teacher. SO MANY OPTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Majors/minors I'm considering:
1. Graphic Design, BA or BFA
2. Mass Communications/Journalism
3. Sociology
4. Psychology
5. And teacher's credentials...dunno what specifications
SO MANY CHOICES!!!!! Sucks!!!! Maybe I can be a super-super-super senior. I don't mind not graduating with my class. Well, I don't mind now; I might mind later. lol.
Anyway, PEOPLE (COUGH) have been pressuring me to get a new racket, like the armortec or the whatever new one is called. Arcsaber? Sounds very.... uh... Inuyasha. Supposedly my old racket doesn't let me smash hard enough.
I don't know. I mean, of course I want to do better in badminton.. and smash harder! No one wants to play lower than their potential. But I've had my current silver racket for so long. It's been with me through the tough times: league finals, ccs, three years of varsity :( I even kiss it!!!! And paint it with nail polish after it's been painfully chipped. How can I give it up for a newer, shinier, more famous, worshipped, powerful, cliched-name racket?
This reminds me of Harry Potter! He was entitled to the most powerful and sought-after wand, but he chose his trusty and faithful old wand over that one.
But then again, change is good, right?
I don't know!!!

1000 words per pic
10:31 PM
I have homework so I'm not even going to write out a full blog. lol. I'll just post up the pics I took over this past week. :D
1) Brand-new, plush, SPARKLING bus seat vs. peed-on, gum-blackened, sagging bus seat
2) Karate hands
In the library... lol. No one even follows this rule *ahem*
A pleasantly cool and crisp fall day
9pm. Tired in the morning, tired at night... pathetic. Whatever happened to energized high-school days with 5-6 hours of sleep??? I get 7 now and i'm more tired.
Omg, I get my Word book after only two months of waiting. -_-
looking forward to the weekend :)
Yesterday marks a celebrated day in history! I thought McCain gave a very gracious speech. For a second I wished I had voted for him instead because he was so nice in his speech. LOL. for a second.

dry socks + my first day on the job!
9:19 PM
Halloween was really fun! Better than last year's, heehee. I had stayed home and done homework and passed out candy to (mostly) rude little kids. This year Ricky and I visited UCSC and visited Curtis, Victor, and Jenny. Jenny took the bus home with me and Ricky. While Ricky slept, Jenny and I chatted the ride away. haha. Then trick-or-treating in the rain, sorting the candy, pigging out to scary movies, and everyone falling asleep during the second movie. Love!!!
Not much time for gossip, but there's always next time, right?
School was unusually fun today. In badmin, Trevor was uncharacteristically understanding about my mistakes. lol. Maybe it was the ugly lion he had on his shirt.
EWW!!!! A bright yellow lion with bulging muscles in a tiny wrestling suit...
Ashamed to be seen modeling this shirt
(the coach is in the background)
I spent my hour and a half between badmin and English editing my essay and finishing up my Spanish hw. It cost 30 cents to print out the three pages of my essay, but whatever. I was pretty darn proud of it :) Too bad I couldn't staple it bc the LRC didn't have a stapler, so it looked pretty ugly in the stack of prettily-stapled essays. I hope I get a good grade on it. My last essay grade sucked.
Anyway, we had a timed in-class essay in English. My brain was just mush after staring at my take-home essay, so I basically gave the in-class essay a B-C effort. Sucked. I'm ashamed of it. I hope my prof reads it after she reads a more incompetent one :) hehehehehe. So bad.
Spanish was actually....fun. Time passed by super quickly. I think it was because we were learning verbs and things that I really wanted to learn so I could actually use Spanish in everyday terms, like YO ...eh...nvm. I need to go study it. LOL. anyway, at the end of the class, the prof called everyone outside individually to tell them their grade. I went outside when she called me and I glanced quickly at the grade slip she held in her hand. OMG I thought I saw an F next to my name. I was about to freak out, but then she said that I have an A-. Whew. I thought I had a B because of my first hw packet (yes, I did it but I forgot to correct it and add accents and all that jazz, so I got 75/100. argh). I want at least an A.
Then after Spanish, I walked out and it was raining. I love the rain... when it's pretty, I have my umbrella, and my socks don't get wet. I was wearing my cheapie uncomfortable flats today WHICH I had regretted buying, but now I'm really glad I bought them because they really are waterproof! AND warm. Too bad they're flats, so my socks still get wet... but only from the top :D
When I stepped out, I just had to drop my stuff into the wet puddles and snap a photo.
Left: Learning Resource Center on the 1st floor, and Cesar Chavez library on the 2nd-3rd floors. Off to the right leads to the Student Center and parking lots.
Poor Pikachu was all soaked.
Then my mom insisted on driving me to my first day of tutoring Photoshop at someone's house. She drove me over and sat in the car (:D) while I went inside at 6:45 and came back out at 7:45. It was pretty fun/easy...except for the beginning when I completely forgot how to use an Apple. UGHHHH. I was clicking around trying to remember what to do. How incompetent. Luckily I got the hang of it after five-ten mins....but geez, how embarrassing! I'm being paid to know this. -_- I basically taught her stuff like attaching photos, copy+paste, etc. to e-mails, and cropping + resizing pics in Photoshop. basic stuff. She's eager to learn, so of course I want to teach her the functions of Photoshop. Teaching is fun! I was nervous today but I stuttered a lot, but it's only the first day. yay :D

windy
9:20 PM
It was really, really cold and windy today!! I was in the LRC on a computer when someone opened the door, and a HUGE gust of wind blew in. Almost everyone in there looked outside to see the trees swaying madly. It was pretty cool.
Even though I love fall, its colors are only pretty when the sky is blue. Hence, I cropped out the sky. Stupid gray sky.
Check out this blanket of leaves.... crazy
Karate was fun :) We learned how to throw people! I tossed this dude who is like taller than 6 feet :D :D :D Of course, he was going easy on me, but still. Then I went to my work to get the work schedule. I'M NOT WORKING AT ALL THIS WHOLE WEEK! and the next! Except the Saturday after next, 6-10pm. Man, my hours are really cut.
The elevator up to the lightrail station. I got bored waiting for bus 71.
ah...
I LOVE THIS CAMERA!! It makes me want to blog.
