goodbye SJCC! hello SJSU!

it's just about 5:30am and I'm fiiiiiiiiiinished with stats junk! goodbye project, homework packet, exam cheat sheat, studying, and extra credit. i feel a little twitchy. lol. well, it's not quite as bad as high school all-nighters on 4 hours of sleep the night before. dang, those were ... just weird feeling. lol. like...muscles twitching, trembling hands and legs, a weird dry/firey feeling all over, numbness to pain/ woo. i just feel a little trembly. time to go and sleep. hope i don't oversleep for the final :)

EDIT. 10pm and i'm allllll done :)

finals in level of difficulty:

1. Badminton

Sooooooooooooooooooo fun! The best final ever, lol. Just play in the singles tournament. Trevor and I made a deal - he'd give me one point in the semifinals match, and I'd give him a grip. Then he proceeded to let me win - hitting all the ones that I hit out--and pretending he couldn't get my smashes. sucker. THEN in the final match, he gave the game to me!!! What the heck, man! lol, he didn't even get his grip--we both totally forgot bc we finished 4 minutes before his class and his final. what a sucker. i'm going to challenge him for real at Smash City later.

2. Excel

Easiest final ever. As said before, this one is open book, open notes, open computer, open Internet, open everything. Easy. Thank GOD i'm done with this class. so boring and tedious. Why did I even take this class

3. English

Not bad-- had to write a timed essay on a film that I watched the night before. hehehehehe. My essay was kind of bland, but I think I got the point across. Then we had a discussion on the film. The professor for this class is really nice and cool.

4. Stats

As aforementioned...I studied my butt off for this final. I seriously thought it was going to be way harder, the way the professor kept going on about how proud he was of us for getting this far. I got really freaked out and crammed. And then there was the 2nd part of the test in which we could split up amongst ourselves and discuss the answers to that part. geez. Well... I totally didn't notice that I was the last one to finish the test. LOL. I was so absorbed in writing out my responses and checking my answers that when there was 5 more mins left in the class, the professor cleared his throat and said, "Those of you who aren't done yet, please wrap up your test because there's another class right after ours...JESSICA." I guess I spent too much time on the looooooooooooong extra credit problem....hehehehehehe.

5. Spanish

I like spanish!!!!!! It's a lot easier to understand what people are saying if they're speaking in Spanish rather than French. Spanish is said really clearly and distinctively, while French is all kinda blurred together. And it's cool to hear people talking in Spanish all around you...and actually UNDERSTANDING some of their convos. You never really hear any French speakers here.

Anyway... I did alright until the preterite part!! I was supposed to write comi' because I was trying to say "I ate" in the past tense, but I wrote come' instead. argh. Well, I think I might want to continue to Spanish 1b...when I have time.

6. Karate

UGH KARATE. I watched the video that I made of Moses doing the seisan thingie....like 50x until I got it down. Surprisingly, I did alright. When I got back to everyone else after doing the seisan thing, I found out that james^2 and moses had made a bet on whether I would pass or not. lol...stupid suckers. As a result of winning the bet, I was rewarded with a slave and a human punching/kicking bag. Then we were tested on the kata or whatever it is, and I totally bombed that one... sensei told me to sit down after I attempted a sad version of it. LOL. Then we got tested on front kicks, side kicks, roundhouse kicks, etc.... danielle and I had to watch the TA give us a quick review.

There's this girl in the class who never participates in anything and always makes up excuses not to practice with us, so she was panicking like mad and pestering the TA to show her how to do all the steps. Moses tried to show her, but she was like "No, I want that short girl [the TA] to show me." omg. we all just kind of rolled our eyes...

And then to wrap everything up, the girls were tested on the self-defense moves. We were all kind of watching and hoping that tommy (the "rapist") would get kicked in the nuts--as moses assured us, it's a tradition every semester--but he never did. he got off lucky this semester. lol. when it was my turn, he grabbed my ponytail!!!!! so i did the...whatever that kick is called. It's a kick where you act like a bull and kick backward as hard as you can. Don't remember what that one's called. then apparently I had way too much adrenaline running through me and I almost broke the guy's arm when I performed another self-defense move...sensei's eyes bulged and he was like "no no no, don't break his arm!!" heehee. oops.

Okay well...I really hope I don't get a C or something in karate. THAT would really suck.

it's been great at sjcc ;D I'm definitely gonna miss the people in badminton and karate and a few people in english. I never talk to anyone in math or spanish...heh. one month of vacation, and then off to sjsu. what will it be like there?

testing

I am in the middle of taking what's got to be the easiest midterm ever (Excel). Open book, open notes, open computer, open Internet...I'm even blogging and listening to music while taking it. heehee. I hope the final next week is going to be this easy.

Oh, I forgot to mention... the instructor even gave me the ANSWER KEY!!!! for this midterm. omg. this is really sad...

Pictures of the campus...I was bored and the sky turned out pretty for some of them.

Badminton has gotten more interesting...we're doing a tourny!

Sucks that it's singles. lol. I'm going to die.

dropped??

OMG, I'm in the computer lab right now at SJCC. I went up here to work on my Word junk....but...

I'VE BEEN DROPPED FROM MICROSOFT WORD!!!

I don't know whether to be relieved or annoyed.

Apparently they dropped me Nov. 21..but I'd turned in my work on the first Word chapter on like, Nov. 22?

ARGH!

I'm thinking they dropped me because I hadn't turned in a scrap of work for this class before Nov. 22. I had no idea this was going to happen! This is nowhere on the course syllabus. The instructor, Sharon Youngblood, hadn't warned me about this. I remember telling her near the end of October that the bookstore still didn't have my Microsoft Word lvl2 textbook. After sending an e-mail to someone who might have a handle on the book situation, she assured me that the book would be coming in soon (it had been placed on back order). I received my textbook in the 1st-2nd week of November.

Hmmm. I actually have mixed feelings on being dropped. I mean, I've been slightly stressing out trying to figure out how to cram eight Microsoft Word chapters into three weeks. I even completed two Excel chapters in one week (the instructors allot us 2 weeks to finish a chapter), anticipating that I would have to really rush through Microsoft Word in December. I finished the reeeaaallly long Chapter 1 too. I want to get my expert's certifications in both Excel and Word. lol.

But I'm dropped...so that means I don't have to rush like crazy and I can concentrate on my other classes. I can study more thoroughly for the Excel midterms/final (I'm taking them all at once, heheheheh). I don't have to keep going back to the computer lab. I don't have to come home at 9-10 on comp-lab nights. Mmmm, sounds good.

But...I'm dropped! :(

The Word instructor isn't here today, so maybe I'll talk to her tomorrow about it.

Hmm....so my English prof e-mailed me again about my enrollment status in English. Apparently I'm still not in the class officially...

Hi Jessica,
I just checked the official roster on MyWeb again and find that A&R still has not officially enrolled you, despite Marty's email.

I think you need to follow up with the counselor who cleared you for 1C prereqs and ask him to notify A&R of his approval, so that you can enroll and receive credit for this class. Let me know if you run into any difficulties.

best,

Andrea Wang
Instructor, Language Arts Division/English

Please add Jessica Y. Suen (SID 0648713) to English 1C-105 (#46007), "Critical Thinking/Composition." Thanks.
