my impression of my classes

i'll fix the broken blog template...later >_> ah, this is always happening.

but yeah, now that i've gone into all my classes... it seems a lot easier than i thought. a LOT. from the way my mom was describing it, i was expecting AP^10.

by far the easiest class would have to be Art 001. The professor shortened it from 3 hours to 1.5. LOVELY :D Everyone cheered when he said that. Haha. It's a big ol' lecture hall, so we can do homework/read/eat/sleep. It's a credit/no credit class too, so we're graded on participation (2 index cards submitted every class. for the first index card, all we have to do is write about an experience we had that's related to the world of art. for the second, it's basically our response to the current lecture). We can miss up to 6 cards total in order to pass the class. ahhh. beautiful <3

Social Problems... well, the prof is very easygoing and laidback. He says that even though there are due dates for the papers, we can turn in ALL our work on the last day and we'll still get full credit. how crazy is that?! plus, i heard that the tests are super easy; just attend the lectures and he'll tell you the answers to the tests straight out.

Color Theory, Creative Writing, and 3D Concepts won't be academically challenging, but all I need to do is put my best effort in and don't procrastinate and I believe I should do fine. Color Theory - basically cut+paste and painting. -_- 3D Concepts- a little more difficult because we'll need to use the woodshop and saws and drills and sanders and everything to construct things, but should be fine if I invest time in it. Creative Writing - same thing. Now Art History is something else. That seems more of a studying class, in my opinion. And it's a little hard to stay awake during the 3-hr long lectures, heh heh. Well, it is REALLY boring when he blabbers on about the history of Rome and Europe and everything, but I found it really interesting when he related the composition, color choices, shapes, everything, to the historical context of a particular painting.

Easy classes... should lead to more time to helping badmin kids ;D

a ghost?

I feel so chocolate deprived... but my altoids chocolate-dipped mints are staving off some of the deprivation, thankfully. The thing is, I don't care for the mint in the middle; I just want the chocolate. heheh.

I really haven't posted for a very, very long time... predictably. I'll try to blog more often!

Today was kind of hectic... quite a bad day. First, I was having some kind of dream with Diane and cockroaches when suddenly, i JERK WIDE AWAKE. I dimly hear my bedroom door click open, and immediately slam shut. Like, click-SLAM!!!! Like somebody only wanted to slam the door, only it was closed and he/she had to open it in order to slam it. It freaked me out. I freeze, and then I haul up the covers over my head. Shameful, I know, but I was really freaked out. For the next ten minutes, I struggle to keep my eyes open and I assess the situation. Why did the door suddenly open and then slam shut? I listen for the wind; maybe an open window has blown the door shut. Nope, my window is closed. I cautiously peek over my covers to see if someone is in the room. Nope, no one there... Against my will, I fall back asleep. I wake up a little bit later, and sweat is pouring off me thanks to the covers being hitched over my head. It was a very long night...

The next morning I wake up, and the first thing I think about is the door. I lie in bed contemplating the reasons behind that, and then my mom throws the said door open and out from her mouth explodes a continuous torrent of screaming at me, etc., because I slept in late. Ugh, how annoying. Then I come downstairs and she starts yelling that Curtis and I will only ever amount to be garbage people picking up trash off the street. I don't need to hear this adult temper tantrum just because I got up at noon the two days I get up at 7am. I start preparing lunch, and my mom comes over and switches off the stovetop because apparently I "would finish at 3pm and make us all late." On the contrary, I finish everything at 1:30 and set off to Michael's at 2pm.

On the lightrail, I try and fail to jam my bike onto the vertical bike rack thing. I get off at Great Mall, and I try to jam my bike onto the bus bike rack. A kind dude comes over to help me, and we both struggle with the bike rack. Finally I say to him, "I'll ask the bus driver for help" and I walk onto the bus and ask him if he can help us. He flat out responds, "Sorry, I can't." Okay, I understand..maybe he has to stay on the bus at all times. Meanwhile, outside the window, the guy beckons to me, and i step back outside. He's figured out how to get the bike rack down, so I stick my bike onto it and thank him for his help.

I walk onto the bus and show the driver my tower card that has the vta pass sticker on it. He looks at it and says, "Wait, this is orange." I look back at him, thinking "um...is it supposed to be any other color?" He flips the card back and forth and says, "Why is this orange? This card isn't valid. The VTA sticker passes are purple." Then he runs his finger down the dates of validity on my card, and mutters "Expires in September..."

I point out that the day that the card starts being valid is Jan. 22, 2009, and that I had received the sticker in the mail last week. He stares at it for a good long moment, and then says, "All the stickers are purple, but yours is orange. That can't be right... Okay, I'll let it go just this one time, you understand?"

At this point I am really frustrated and annoyed because he is basically accusing me of having a fake card or validing my VTA sticker or something, so I go and plop down in a seat.

But yeah, anyway. Went to Michael's and prowled the aisles searching for art supplies from my list. In the end, I rack up $140 worth of stuff (I still need to get some more), and I leave around 5pm. I decide not to take public transit because I'd had bad luck on it today, so I bike home. It was nice, but very tiring... I daresay I've gotten thigh muscles.
I got fake tulips...oh how I do so love fake flowers :D

My haul

I don't know why, but I always seem to have bad days after a nice fun day at Smash City or badminton. When I'm with badmin people, it's like being drunk on happiness; it's just a lot of screaming, laughing, gossiping, buttbumping, etc. But the day or night after, something bad happens, i.e. Curtis and I argue, or my mom gets mad, or just something bad in general. Maybe it's a balance thing...sucks.

Well, I'm looking at all the paints and brushes strewn around me, and I'm really excited for my art classes to begin! Art history seems interesting (minus the history part), and Social Problems is being taught by a crazy professor. haha. I never realized just how many piedmont people go to SJSU.

Oh by the way...Diane and I are starting a little earring business. A preview:
